Atticus tells Scout “you never really understand a person until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.” What does he mean? Is he right? (Chap. 3-4) Write at least 8-15 sentences, use correct spelling and grammar.

Atticus is trying to say dont judge what you see in till you try to feel what they feel, until you know how they think. He is right, from my point of view he is so right, there are many people that judge others by the way they look by the way they dress, some times some one acts different from what they really are because they want attention, they may be scare to show the world what they are from inside. If you want to get to know some one you should talk to them first get to know them then start feeling the same things that person is feeling.
ReplyDeleteAtticues is right in my opinion. Atticus is basically saying that you don't understand a person's feelings, thoughts, or situations just by looking at them on the outside and judge what they are going through. You don't really know what they feel inside or understand what is really going on. They are probably suffering internally but don't show it externally. In this way, by feeling what they are feeling or thinking the same thoughts as them, you finnally understand the way things are within them. As said in the metaphor stated by Atticus,"you never understand a person until you climb into his skin and walk around", it is saying that you don't know what a person feels or thinks until you expirience it yourself.
ReplyDeleteWhat Atticus means is that you cannot fully understand someone until you have been through what he has been through and have done what that person has done. I agree with Atticus, because people judge others without even knowing them and they feel like they're better than those "other People". This quote reminds me a lot of another saying "you cannot understand any one until you walk in their shoes". Of course it doesn't refer to its literal meaning. It shows that people have different perspectives about thing and one cannot expect to understand everyone's viewpoint.
ReplyDeleteWhat Atticus means by this is that you haven't understand someone until you've see in their point of view. Which is true because you never truly understand someone until you see how they see things. Like for example, when we see a tree a kid sees something to climb. Or how some people have more remorse for other people unlike other people. And how some people feel different about some situations like in jury. So yeah, what Atticus says is true you don't understand until you've see in their point of view.
ReplyDeleteAtticus is trying to give scout advise and how she should treat the Radley's with respects and not to judge them. He is telling scout not to judge someone unless you "have walked around in their shoes" and know what they have been through and felt.He is telling her this because she judges everyone way to harshly and judges the little things in people. For example she judged Walter Cunningham for eating what he enjoys. In my opinion he is trying to tell her dont try to say things when you do not know what they have seen, touched or felt. Atticus is just trying to tell her to not judge unless youve known what has happened or has been done to them.
ReplyDeleteAtticus tells Scout you never know a person until you climb into there skin. What he is saying is that you don't know a person or what there feeling just by looking at them and judging there actions. You have to truly walk in their shoes to understand, to feel like them, to live the life that they have lived. You have to know what its like to be them, and truly know what there going through. He is teaching her not to judge others or be prejudice.I think he (Atticus) is right. You cant start to truly know someone unless you've lived the life that they have lived. understanding people is a great lesson for Scout. She would begin to have more respect for others.
ReplyDeleteAtticus meant by if you could live that person's life for once, you could understand that person's motive of what he/she does and understand it. Thus you could finally understand that person without judging. I agree somewhat on what Atticus stated, but there are some things that are off. All the time, people always quote "I understand", yet they don't completely grasp it. They are some things people do randomly without even thinking about the consequences or has thought it through to why they do it such as murder, kidnapping, torture, etc. Now for the things that are off from my view, sometime people would say that you don't understand them are excuses. For example, when people try to cut themselves. I hope I don't sound like a terrible person, but when people try to cut themselves and we ask them why they do such a thing. They would used that "You don't understand" stuff and of course, I don't want to understand. If it's something big and I mean that could be easily understandable then I would shed some light, but something stupid over losing a pet, being depressed, abusive background, or a death. People have gone through these stuffs and still are healthy. Death shouldn't be something to kill yourself over, it's reality. You're not going to be living in sunshine and cookies. I may have gone off topic a bit and I hope that doesn't affect the main question I'm being asked.
ReplyDeleteAtticus means like you never really know a person because you don't have there life. You don't know what they have been through or nothing about them . You just know what you see. People shouldn't judge a person because of they way they are or anything they shouldn't judge a person at all because you don't live there life.I think atticus is right about that. Alot of people go around naming people names and saying stuff about them . Then other people go around believing the lies or assumptions the person said. When in reality nothing is true.
ReplyDeleteIn my perspective I think that Atticus is trying to say like you wont understand until you walk in their shoes. Atticus is not the judging type. Atticus is trying to give scout advise on how she should treat the Radley with respects and not to judge them. She may not know what they feel inside or understand what is really going on until she spends a day or week with them. Judging hurts people because people are sensitive and have feeling too. In my opinion he is right because just because they are a different color don't mean he is bad. We should all be treated equally not by the color of our skin but by our character. We are all the same.
ReplyDeleteWhat Atticus means is to not judge someone without knowing them, to really understand what and how they live before you say anything that might hurt them. In my point of view Atticus is right for what he is saying. There are times when people judge others and really not know anything thing about them and end up saying some hurtful things. So yes you should really get to know someone before saying anything, because what you say can affect others and cause somethings to happen. Then again, usually when I hear someone say "climb into his skin" to me it means to like get them mad or annoyed. To really get to them so they know not to mess or bother you again.
ReplyDeletei think atticus is trying to say that you may never understand what a person's going through unless you try to put yourself in their place. As if he tried to tell scout what other people often say "put your self in their shoes", even tough that's not always the easiest thing to do and he was probably telling this to scout as a way to show her she shouldn't judge or try to change people just because she feels like its not right or like there's a better,a solution, a better way to react.so truth be told we should all learn from atticu's words and use them in our life's
ReplyDeleteAtticus means that you shouldn't judge anyone because you don't know what they have to go through everyday. Someone else's life style maybe perfect for them but not for anyone else. Someone can say that your life style is bad others might say they're good. The Radleys and everyone should be respected.
ReplyDelete"You'll never understand a person until you climb into his skin and walk around it"
ReplyDeleteHe is saying that just because you look at somebody you'll know how they feel. you must live the live they had. walk in their shoes and experience what they experienced. hes is saying not to judge people by how they look; to not become prejudice. this somehow will make scout have more respect more people and not just people by what they look like. in my opinion i truly believe in what he is saying.
Atticus is trying to tell Scout not to judge someone if you don't know them.He saids you have to get to know a person first before judging that person. He saids that you shouldn't judge people by their appearances. This will make Scout stop judging people by their appearances.I think what Atticus said is right.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, I think that Atticus is right. What he tries to say is that "don't misjudge the person without knowing him/her." Because a lot of people judges everyone without knowing them is either by their appearances, their personalities, by how they dress, etc. Atticus just wants that people should stop judging the people without knowing their feelings.

ReplyDeleteAtticus is a man that does not judge people before actually knowing them. He says that if you want to judge someone, first try to see life in their point of view. Atticus keeps on proving throughout the story that he is a man of ethics and principles. Atticus is trying to pass on those principles to Scout and Jem. Atticus is a very wise man and proves it in every chapter. I agree with him because you never really know how people are until you get to know them and experience their life. Judging someone before knowing them is wrong and yet it happens very often in life. In Houston people judge other a lot and that causes the community to be separated.
ReplyDeleteAtticus is right Scout shouldn't judge a person with out knowing them.People shouldn't judge another person with out knowing them, you don't know what that person has gone through.
ReplyDeleteWhat Atticus is trying to tell Scout is not to judge by their appearance, their dressing,or personalities because you may not know what has happened to her/he without knowing their feelings.I think that Atticus is right because alot of people judges everyone by how they look, how they dress, or their personalities. He wants Scout to understand that people should stop judging without him knowing that person's feelings.Everything is not what is seems to be the only way you'll know is by experiencing what they have.Walk in their shoes.
ReplyDeleteI think that what Atticus means is that you don't really know someone until you've looked at life through their eyes.I agree with Atticus about not really knowing someone until you've experienced what they experience on a daily basis. If you take a moment to think about what that person has to deal with you probably wouldn't judge them.People like Atticus are great because they stop and think before they just throw a random insult at someone. It also makes me respect Atticus for his views on others.
ReplyDeleteWhat Atticus is say is don't judge any one. Because you don't know what some one goes through every day. its not right to judge some one because you think you are perfect, which no one is. I completely agree with him. who am i to judge you when i don't know you or your circumstances. you cant go about judging some one based on what you perceive who this person is. Because you are always on the outside looking in. When you know nothing about a person. When you point a finger there is always three pointing back at you.
ReplyDeleteAtticus is trying to tell scout that, you cant say that a person is something, unless you know what its like to be like them. This is something i agree with completely, because people are all different in their own ways, and making a sudden judgement can create problems. no one has a right to call who something, especially if they don't even know your first name. All I'm saying is, unless you know personally what someones been through, you cant say you've been through the same. Everyone has experienced the hard times in their life at least once , if not more, but someones pain could be more unbearable than the rest. so if you see someone depressed, and say you had it worse, ask them their side of the story, and see just how much 'worse' you have it, you might be surprised to find that your pain is nothing compared to others. so like atticus tried to say, dont judge a person unless you've lived like them. until then, just stay quiet.
ReplyDeleteAtticus is saying that you got to experience it before you start judging a person without even knowing them at all.Atticus has a point in what his saying.
ReplyDeleteAtticus is trying to tell scout that you don't understand someone until you know what they are or went through. Atticus is telling scout to never judge someone by their appearance, how they act, what they do etc. because you don't know what they feel about someone or something. You may think that a mean person doesn't have feelings, but you don't know why he/she is going through, so never judge someone when you don't know their story. And in my opinion i think hes right because you never judge someone if you don't know what they understand.
ReplyDeleteAtticus is teaching Scout a lesson that she shouldn't judge anyone that she doesn't know because she doesn't know anything about their life because she hasn't been inside of the person to know about their life and their feelings. I agree with atticus because it is not a nice thing to talk about other people that you don't even know.
ReplyDeleteatticus is right by tellin scout that she shoudnt judge people by what they have done if she doesnt know what they have been trough. i agree with him because people shouldn't just judge others by what they have done if they don't know the real reason they did it
ReplyDeleteAtticus is trying to say that you won't understand someone or what he is felling until you really get to know them. He is right because you shouldn't judge someone by it's appearance or how they act.
ReplyDeleteWhat Atticus is trying to say that we need to understand someone first before judging them. Atticus is right because these is called prejudice and these is common between every person. Atticus is trying to let Scout know that making a judgement about someone that you dont even know personally is bad. Atticus is a person that doesn't judge people before knowing them. This make me respect him because in my opinion he is right. He is a Lawyer with experience.
ReplyDeleteAtticus is trying to say that you dont know a person until you put yourself in their shoes. Atticus is a respectful man who tries to educate his children well. I agree with what he tells Scouts. My mom always thought me to be respectful with everyone I meet. Everyone is different but were all humans. We need to not judge and start treating everyone wit respect.
ReplyDeleteWhat Atticus is saying is that don't judge/talk bad about a person until you have live their life, gone throught every sigle thing they have gone through. I think he is defenitly right, because theres people who judge others by the way they act or the way they are, but the thing is that they don't know what they been through, they could have gone through a lot of bad stuff in their life but they don't care, they are like "that's not my life i don't care", but what if it was their life? for sure they wouldn't think like that.
ReplyDeleteWhat he means is that you shouldn't judge some one if you don't how their life is.If you put yourself in their skin you were going to know how there life is.you would know what they are going through.you would also know what they act a certain way. They might of had gone through hard stuff. That's why you shouldn't judge some one by their looks or acts unless you know what they are going trough.
